Abstract

Solid pseudopapillary tumor of the pancreas is uncommon with low malignant potential. The case of a 17-year-old woman is presented for consultation due to insidious abdominal pain of moderate intensity; no significant findings on the physical exam; Abdominal ultrasound reports a solid nodular image of 8x6 cm in the body and tail of the pancreas with a central and peripheral vascular signal to the color Doppler. A contrast-enhanced tomography is performed, showing a large tumor that covers the body and tail of the pancreas approximately 10x8cm with projection, to splenic hilum. Mass resection and histopathological examination confirmed the diagnosis of pseudopapillary tumor of the pancreas. Conclusion: Pseudopapillary neoplasm of the pancreas is a rare condition, which requires surgical intervention. Careful monitoring is necessary for the early detection of recurrence and metastasis.
