Abstract

Objective: Determine the prevalence of conversion of videolaparoscopic cholecystectomies in the Hospital de Clínicas during the year 2021. Materials and Methods: 317 cases of patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy in the Sala X, Hospital de Clinicas, from January to October 2021. Observational, descriptive, cross-sectional, temporally retrospective study. Non-probability sampling of consecutive cases. Results: Our conversion rate is 2.2% (7 patients), the main cause was the lack of identification of the structures of the Calot’s triangle due to firm adhesions. The surgery performed was reconstituting subtotal cholecystectomy in 4 cases (57.14%) and total cholecystectomy in 3 cases. The main diagnosis was gangrenous acute cholecystitis. The mean duration of surgery in these patients was 162.14 +/- 41.01 minutes. The average length of stay was 3.5 +/- 1.91 days. We did not find postoperative complications after 30 days of follow-up. Conclusion: The results obtained inthis work are similar to the conversion rate obtained by surgeons with experience in the international literature.
